Heres a photosphere of the space i was hanging out in

Got to see this team in action.. Wasp and Viking from Scandinavian Airshow were actually more fun than all the military jets

I was too far away to capture any footage of their sky cats though.. heres a video from their site. To know more about this fantastic team visit airshow.se

got a few interest shots.. of landings

And then the obligatory selfie.. I usually don't do selfies.. but when there are huge loud jet engines screaming by.. I couldn't help myself.

Le Gouffre - an award winning animated short

Found this today and it really impressed me. The attention to detail and overal quality of artwork and storytelling is the best i've seen in a while. From what I can see its mostly done with Softimage and a whole lot of skill+talent+patience. Well done!

"Le Gouffre is the first animated short film produced and directed by Lightning Boy Studio, a young creative team based in Montreal. The film tells the story of two spirited travelers who come across an incredibly wide chasm on their journey and decide to build a bridge to cross it. Released in February 2015, the project had first gained a lot of attention following the huge success of its Kickstarter campaign, which allowed the creators to finance the movie's post-production. Many were impressed by the passion and determination of the small team of three animators, who spent more than two full years creating the 10-minute film." - Lightning Boy Studio

As of now, Le Gouffre has been selected in more than 40 festivals around the world and won six awards, three of them for "Best Animated Short".

Heres a fascinating look behind the scenes..

Motorcycle Tank Paint sketches converted to 3D

Did a few sketches years back when i first got my bike.. I never even thought of mapping them onto a 3d model.. it just seemed like a lot of work..

This website - Smoothie-3d makes it a piece of cake!!
heres a couple of those sketches in 3d.. took less than 10min to do..

Easiest 3d Modelling Tool You'll Find Today

Discovered this via the Sketchfab blog .. and it blew my mind!.. its the easiest 3d modelling tool i've seen since Teddy. Its a great tool!

Will help a lot of aspiring artists, who may be intimidated by typical 3d modelling concepts like UV mapping or projection mapping.. as well as modelling.

Note: this is not a replacement for traditional polygon modelling or 3d sculpting techniques, if you are working on a game or animation you will run into issues while trying to optimise or rig these models. However they are excellent for quick mockups and proof of concept models.
The website is called Smoothie-3D and you can use it to sculpt a 3d model out of any side profile picture you have of.. an animal.. (Update: have tried it with other stuff like sketches of motorcycle tanks and robots etc.. works great!

Heres what i was able to do in 5-10min .. my first time using the site!

Step1:

upload an image.. i chose this picture i had of one of my dogs.
Rumi the Irish Setter

Step2: trace it .. every shape you trace gets turned into a bulbous extrusion with the photograph mapped onto it as a texture! so Trace the legs, torso, head , jaw as seperate shapes

Step3:

Scale, manipulate and reflect/clone things like legs, ears etc..

refer to this helpful video:

Step4:

Download it in one of the formats..
or directly export to sketchfab!
heres what the model looks like now
