Persepolis

Saw a cool animation film:D called Persepolis last night. Came highly recomended by a friend of mine at Flip Design.

Its done in a gorgeous graphic style. A combination of contemporary looking characters, as well as classical leather puppet kind of characters.
The main story uses this simplistic style, kind of reminiscent of what you see in tintin comics.
The flashbacks and other narrated sub stories have a leather puppet style of animation.

The story is about Marjane Satrapi a lady who grew up in Tehran and witnessed first hand parts of the revolution and the Iraq-Iran war. She later documented these experiences in her graphic novels Persepolis and Persepolis II . this film is an adaptation of these novels, and won the oscar for best animation film in 2008.

I know it sounds like a terrible tear jerker, but its surprisingly not. In fact theres plenty of humour thrown in throughout the film.

A must see for anyone who wants to get a decent(non fox news) view of life in Iran.
