Voxel Planetoid

Decided to take part in a Sketchfab contest after a long time.. this time thought I'd try something I hadnt done before - Voxel art!

In case you want to take part as well, the contest page is here - https://blog.sketchfab.com/sketchfab-voxel-challenge-ideal-planet/
this is the 2nd thing i ever created on Magic Voxel, was so much fun :)

I wanted to create an odd planetoid with a micro ecosystem and weird geological anomalies.. due to low gravity

thanks to @elbriga for the excellent tutorial on the Magicvoxel-sketchfab workflow - https://blog.sketchfab.com/complete-guide-importing-magicavoxel-sketchfab/

3December Challenge Day 27

Day 27: Legoalways wanted to make this, but never had enough 1s, 2s or flat 8s

Heres the normal map i used for the logo on each block, incase anyone needs it.

also dug up this old program i'd used a few years back when they launched it -
Lego Digital Designer
Free Download - http://ldd.lego.com/en-us/
It lets you build whatever you like.. and then order the parts online. Earlier on there was no way to get a obj out of it so i gave up on it immediately..
but now you can get Leo CAD and that opens the lego file and saves as obj etc.
Free Download - http://www.leocad.org/
Anyway I used it to create something last night.. was fun doing this after a long time. Its a bit of a cheat for the 3December entry, hence not my official entry. Just something I played with last night.

You can see it below.. needs some smoothing and finishing.. the textures don't export apparently.

The engraving at the back can be customised by modifying the normal map in any image editor.

Here are some alternate engravings I created

World of Warcraft: Legion Contest

Haven't taken part in a cg challenge in a while, so when this popped up I found my self saying..

Lets have a go at it

https://forum.sketchfab.com/t/lets-have-a-go-at-it/9554
(see the forum thread for the work in progress)

Its sort of a fanart contest based on the release of World of Warcraft “Legion”

Prizes include an Oculus Rift, The Art of Blizzard Entertainment books, WoW: Legion T-shirts, Sketchbooks, Amazon Gift cards and more. Enjoy! More details here
heres my work so far..

I started with the idea of doing a mini Wandering Isle
(turtle with a forest/cabin on its shell)..
sketches:

Got a lot of great inputs from @dark_minaz
the turtle in my sketch was looking too cute.. less legion.. so after looking at several refrences of the game, happened on the idea of making it a dead/skeletal part of a lair.. ie: an environment that grew around the giant carcass of a turtle..

anyway looked at some refrences of turtle bones and skulls ..
and finally started modelling this snapping turtle skull.. will add horns etc and make it more legion

some layout progress... actually starting to feel satisfied with it a bit.. now to WoW it up.. with glowy cracks and green/blue goop and flames..

Plant Pod

This was a small component for a larger scene. It was done for a CG Challenge..

    Plant Pod
    on Sketchfab

The theme for this challenge was "Garden" and it was on from 21 Sep - 15 Nov 2006.
My ambitious idea was to show a gardon of plants encased in pods.. a remnant of a desolate contaminated world.

(Rough Layout for the final render..which never happened)

Couldn't finish in time, coz of spillover work at my day job and other time constraints. Will try and finish it anyway.
